Revising Your GAME Plan

What have you learned so far that you can apply in your instructional practice? What goals are you still working toward?

I have learned that there are a TON of assets technology can bring into the classroom that I never knew of before and a lot of the time these tools are free of charge. I have also learned that is should be somewhat easy to apply my GAME plan as long as I set that as a goal for myself. I have always learned that setting Goals and high Expectations for myself as a teacher gives me something to work towards. The best part of my GAME plan is the Action because it will excite my students and keep them interested and motivated to learn about new technology. The new technology can be carried across to all subject areas.

Based on the NETS-T, what new learning goals will you set for yourself?

Based on the NETS-T I have already found new goals I want to set for myself to work on next summer. Obtaining a degree through Walden in technology I want to prove to my teaching partners that it has become a benefit and that I want to use it as best as I can. I want to begin to incorporate and create new technology for students in the school in which I teach. I want learning to continue to take place for myself and my students. I want to set small and precise learning goals so I can accomplish them and easily put new learning into my classroom. I feel as if I set large learning goals for myself it can easily become overwhelming.

What learning approaches will you try next time to improve your learning?

I feel as if I know myself as a learner. I am a hands on learner. Iwant to take some quick 1 day classes on technology (such a digital photography class) so I can bring what I learn back to my students. I also want to write a grant to recieve some learning tools for my students who struggle with written language and who could work on their own to keep up with the class.

  1. Megan,
I feel the same way as you do about the abundant (and at times overwhelming) number of resources available. Luckily another teacher (same grade, same content area) also went through this program and is very eager to experiment with new technologies. I made my goals very specific for my GAME plan and would like to make them slightly more broad. Before I do that I'd like to create a way to organize and consolidate all of the resources I find so that I can use them. I'll probably be using my delicious account for most of that!
    Best of luck,
    Christine

  2. Megan,
I also agree that the resources available to us are overwhelming. Just think, after we have completed our master's program we will have all the time to utilize these resources in our classrooms. With getting to know you, you seem to be a big seeker for new ideas in the classroom. Another resource that you may have already heard about, is one that Dr. Vicki Davis suggested. It is a wiki (www.eduwiki.us) that is available educators to use to get more ideas. This wiki is set up for educators to help one anohter, get project examples and ideas, and develop a personal learning network of teachers. What I also liked about this wiki is that it is specific to the content area that you need help or ideas with.

  3. Megan,
Those one-day classes can be super helpful and enriching, as they give you enough training to actually feel competent to utilize the technology and sometimes even the tools and resources to use it in the classroom. I just went to a week long workshop on weather and climate change and technology, and they gave us over $200.00 in resources to use in the classroom AND a $500.00 stipend that we can use for materials!
